Shane at Divine replaced the Fusion stereo and speakers on my boat. He did an incredible job guiding me to the right solution and then doing the install. He was mobile so the experience was quite convenient and the workmanship was of the highest quality. In addition, he gave me recommendations to other service providers to do repairs on my boat. My experience was terrific and I highly recommend Shane and Divine.

Garmin Installation FAQ — Seattle

Common questions from Seattle area boaters about Garmin marine electronics and Fusion audio installation.

Are you a Garmin marine installer in Seattle?

Yes. Divine Marine installs the complete Garmin marine line throughout Seattle and Western Washington including GPSMAP chartplotters, GMR Fantom radar, Reactor autopilots, AIS 800 transceivers, VHF radios, LiveScope sonar, and Fusion audio.

How long does a Garmin installation take?

A single GPSMAP chartplotter typically installs in 2 to 4 hours. A full system with chartplotter, radar, AIS, VHF, autopilot, and Fusion audio takes 1 to 3 days depending on vessel complexity. We give realistic timelines during your consultation.

Will Garmin work with my existing Raymarine or Simrad electronics?

Yes. Garmin uses NMEA 2000, a universal marine standard compatible with Raymarine, Simrad, Furuno, and most other brands. We design integration schemes so your GPSMAP display shows data from existing instruments.

Is Fusion really part of Garmin?

Yes. Garmin owns Fusion, and Fusion Apollo stereos integrate natively with GPSMAP chartplotters over the Garmin Marine Network. You can control zones, sources, and volume from your helm display, including PartyBus multi zone audio across multiple stereos.

Do you install LiveScope on Pacific Northwest boats?

Absolutely. LiveScope Plus LVS34 is a game changer for sport fishing on Puget Sound, Lake Washington, and the San Juans. We install forward, down, and perspective mounts with proper transducer placement for your hull type.

Do you service Kirkland, Bellevue & Eastside Seattle?

Yes. Our mobile service covers all of greater Seattle including Kirkland, Bellevue, Redmond, Bothell, Edmonds, and all Lake Washington marinas. We also serve Tacoma, Everett, Gig Harbor, and Bremerton.

Why Garmin Matters on These Specific Waters

We don’t just install Garmin — we navigate these waters ourselves. Here’s how the right Garmin configuration makes a real difference on Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands.

From Lake Union Through the Ballard Locks

Every Seattle boat heading to Puget Sound must transit the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks on VHF Channel 13. A properly configured Garmin VHF 215 or 315 — DSC enabled, MMSI registered, and GPS linked through the Marine Network — broadcasts your position automatically if you need to call for assistance in the lock or at Shilshole Bay.

The real time AIS 800 overlay on your GPSMAP chartplotter becomes critical the moment you exit Shilshole. Washington State Ferries run constant crossings. A Class B+ SOTDMA transponder broadcasting your position lets ferries see you on their ECDIS before you’re visible to their bridge watch.

Admiralty Inlet & Deception Pass Passages

Admiralty Inlet sees the strongest tidal currents in the Salish Sea, regularly exceeding 3 to 4 knots. A GPSMAP chartplotter with Garmin Navionics+ current vectors and tidal prediction lets you time your transit to run with the current rather than against it.

Deception Pass narrows to 500 feet at the bridge, with currents reaching 8+ knots at peak. We recommend transiting within one hour of slack water. The GMR Fantom radar with MotionScope Doppler is invaluable here — the pass is frequently shrouded in low cloud and spray.

The Electronics You Need for Every Leg

StopDistanceVHFLocal Knowledge
Lake Union / Lake Washington
OriginCh 16Home base for most Seattle area boats. Lake Union connects to Lake Washington via the ship canal. Both are freshwater — your hull will transition to saltwater at Shilshole.
Ballard Locks
~2 nm from Lake UnionCh 13Call "Ballard Lockmaster" on Ch 13 before approach. Large lock for vessels over 35 ft; small lock is faster for most pleasure boats. Fenders both sides, line handlers required. Up to 26 ft drop to tidal saltwater.
Shilshole Bay Marina
~1 nm past locksCh 16 / 66AFirst fuel dock and provisions after the locks. Verify all electronics here — AIS broadcasting, VHF on Ch 16, radar functional. Last easy service stop before open Puget Sound.
Central Puget Sound
Heading NW or SCh 16WSF ferry traffic is constant — monitor AIS at all times. Seattle Bainbridge crossing runs every 40 to 50 minutes at 17 knots.
Admiralty Inlet
~35 nm NWCh 16Between Port Townsend and Whidbey Island. Strongest tidal currents in the Salish Sea — regularly 3 to 4 knots. Plan your transit for slack water.
San Juan Islands
~60 to 80 nm from SeattleCh 16 / 66AFriday Harbor, Roche Harbor, Sucia Island, Stuart Island. Cell coverage drops past Port Townsend. VHF is your primary communication on the outer islands.
