What Fiberglass & Gelcoat in Seattle Includes

Structural and cosmetic fiberglass work at your slip. Every job in Seattle is mobile dockside service. We come to your marina, slip, dry storage, or driveway with a fully equipped truck.

Most Seattle fiberglass jobs start with a phone photo. Chips from Shilshole Bay Marina, a cracked transom from a season on Lake Union or spider cracks in the deck all tell us what materials and how many visits the repair will need before we arrive.

Seattle Local Coverage: Lake Union, Lake Washington, Shilshole, and Elliott Bay marinas.

Why Seattle Boaters Choose Divine Marine

Saltwater exposure at Shilshole and Elliott Bay accelerates gelcoat oxidation and stress cracking. We schedule slip side repairs around tide and lock transit windows.

Seattle boats live in two worlds. Salt from Shilshole and Elliott Bay works into hardware and gelcoat, while the fresh water of Lake Union and the Ship Canal leaves algae lines, diesel film and a steady layer of city grime from the floating homes and the bridges overhead.

Common Seattle repairs include gelcoat chips and gouges, cracked swim platforms, transom and stringer work, non skid restoration and blister repair. Boats that see both fresh and salt water like Lake Union cruisers and liveaboards, Shilshole sailboats, Elliott Bay sport fishers and Lake Washington wake boats each wear in different ways, and we plan the layup and gelcoat to match.

From our Kirkland shop we cross on SR 520 or I-90 and are working on Westlake, in Ballard or down at Elliott Bay the same morning.

How It Works

How Seattle Jobs Run

Same process on every boat, whether it is a Lake Union cruisers and liveaboards or a boat in a covered slip. Lock transits at the Ballard Locks, Opening Day traffic in May and the Seafair weekend in August all shape when Seattle owners want work done, so we book the busy weeks early.

01

Send Photos Of The Damage

Photos of the chip, crack or impact area plus the boat location in Seattle let us plan materials and gelcoat color before arriving.

02

Written Repair Estimate

We quote the repair in writing, including whether it can be done in the water, on the trailer or needs a short haul out.

03

Repair, Fair & Color Match

Damaged laminate is ground out, rebuilt with proper layup, faired and finished with tinted gelcoat matched to the hull.

04

Final Buff & Inspection

The repair is wet sanded and buffed, then inspected with you so it blends with the rest of the boat.

Shane at Divine replaced the Fusion stereo and speakers on my boat. He did an incredible job guiding me to the right solution and then doing the install. He was mobile so the experience was quite convenient and the workmanship was of the highest quality. In addition, he gave me recommendations to other service providers to do repairs on my boat. My experience was terrific and I highly recommend Shane and Divine.

Shane was great! Very knowledgeable about audio and electronics, great suggestions for products. Best of all, he picked up my boat and returned it the very next day with all new sound system! Really happy with the update so far!

Shane is wonderful to work with. He put a much needed upgraded sound system on my yacht in Lake Union and some other nice gadgets. Beautiful workmanship.

Fiberglass & Gelcoat FAQ: Seattle

Common questions from Seattle boat owners about fiberglass & gelcoat.

Can you color match gelcoat on my Seattle boat?

Yes. We tint gelcoat on site to match the existing finish, including faded and oxidized colors common on boats used on Lake Union. Small chips blend in after sanding and buffing, and larger repairs are faired before the final gelcoat.

Does my boat need to be hauled out for fiberglass repair in Seattle?

Usually not. Most gelcoat, swim step and topside repairs are done at the slip, dock or on the trailer in Seattle. Below waterline structural work or blister jobs may need the boat out of the water, and we coordinate that for you.

How long does a fiberglass repair take?

Cosmetic gelcoat repairs in Seattle usually take one or two visits. Structural work on transoms, stringers or hulls can take several days because each layer needs to cure properly, especially in the cool, damp weather around Lake Union.

Do you work on liveaboards and floating homes on Lake Union?

Yes. A large share of our Seattle work is on Lake Union, Portage Bay and the Ship Canal, including liveaboard boats that rarely leave the dock. We plan around marina quiet hours, bring our own power where moorage limits shore power, and keep the dock clean while we work.
